About His Brother Karthik Sivakumar

Karthik Sivakumar was born 25 May 1977, best known by his stage name Karthi is an award-winning Tamil film actor. He is the younger son of veteran actor Sivakumar and brother of Surya Sivakumar. He is best known for his role in his debut film Paruthiveeran in 2007, for which he received the Filmfare Best Tamil Male Debut Award and Filmfare Best Actor Award.

Karthi graduated from the Prestigious St. Bede's School in Chennai after which he went on to complete his undergrad from the Crescent Engineering College. He earned a masters degree in Industrial Engineering from the Binghamton University. He has also done a couple of basic courses in filmmaking. After returning to India, he joined as an assistant to Mani Rathnam in directing Aayitha Ezhuthu and Yuva. Rathnam had wanted him to act in Aayitha Ezhuthu but Karthi was not convinced of the offer, thus the role was given to Siddarth Narayan. His dream was to become a director but when Ameer Sultan approached him to play the hero in his next film Paruthiveeran, Karthi accepted the offer. He was cast opposite actress Priyamani in his first movie.
